The Band
BIOGRAPHY
The band is from Genova (Italy) and has been created in April 1990 by Nicola and Marco Bottini, playing respectively guitar and bass and both singing.
The final formation started in 1995 when the Bottini brothers and the pianist Stefano Cocorullo were joined by Enrico Tixi, a nationwide drummer who played with many famous Italian blues bands such as Big Fat Mama and Burnin' Tubes as well as Americans Johnny Mars and Michael Coleman during their Italian tours.
As time went by the band reached a stronger feeling and had been ready to acquire a new member, the guitar player Marcello Dondero who immediately got the feel of the band's raw sound.
During the last years the band performed in many Italian and foreign pubs, motorbike meetings and at Genova's Motor Bowl; in May 2000 it opened Alvin Lee's concert at Motorock (Cremona), in March 2004 it has been on stage with America during their show in Genova. The band also played at Glory Days festival in Rimini with special guest Joe D'Urso and in July 2005 at Pistoia Blues.
During October 2007 the band, together with the fellow band Big Boss Band, wrote and recorded "A song for science", a song that became the official hymn of the Science Festival 2007; both bands played at the opening of the festival.
MUSIC
The music played is American Rock, being inspired by musicians like Bruce Springsteen, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Lynyrd Skynyrd, America, John Mellencamp, ZZ Top. The band can particularly count on three voices (Nicola, Marco and Stefano), on the impact of an excellent rhythm section and on the simple and warm sounds which characterize the kind of music played.
DISCOGRAPHY
The band recorded its first CD during winter '98, it contains 9 original songs and two covers.
A second CD, "Big River's Brothers", again containing 9 original songs plus two covers, has been released in 2001.
Both the CDs have been printed in 1000 copies and then 300 more.
On December 20th 2008 the band released its third album "Lifetime Warranty", and it's currently working on a fourth cd.
All songs are written in english and the albums are self-produced by The Used Cars.
